How often should my pet be groomed?

Regular grooming is as important to your pets overall health as regular veterinary care, and can help prevent stress and minimize the discomfort that often comes with less frequent grooming.  Most pets should be groomed every 4-6 weeks, depending on breed, coat type and level of at home maintenance.  Our face feet fanny package is an ideal option between full grooms to help minimize matting.

What vaccinations do you require?

For the health and safety of our pets and others, Just Poochy requires all pets entering our facility to be up to date on all yearly vaccinations. Including Bordetella.

We have a firm policy that we will not submit pets to stresses caused by lengthy grooming sessions or procedures that may aggravate age, joint and or health related conditions. Dogs with extensive grooming needs require more grooming time per visit, which can exhaust their ability to cooperate and increase their discomfort, and ultimately lead to behavioral problems. Depending on the severity of the matting, we may be able to accomplish what you desire.  If the matting is severe and next to the skin, the most humane option is always to perform a shorter cut so that we can start with a clean palette.

When should my puppy have its first groom?

Do you groom aggressive dogs?

First "puppy" grooms typically take place around 12 weeks, or after they have had their first round of shots. The earlier you expose your puppy to the grooming process, the greater opportunity to create a positive association and acceptance of the process for them.

We will consult with owners to determine if we can safely groom their pet without risking injury to the pet or staff.

Do you sedate pets?

We do not sedate pets and believe that sedation should be performed under the supervision of a veterinarian.

How long does it take?

We do our best to get all pets finished in a timely manner and pets are more or less finished in the order that they arrive. The time it takes to complete the scheduled pet is dependent on a variety of things: how many pets are booked that day, what types of pets are booked, what condition those pets are in when they arrive, their behavior, etc.  We can give you an estimated time when your dog is going to be finished, however, please wait for us to call you to let you know that your pet is finished before showing up.  We try our best to keep an extra tight schedule but sometimes pets can be unpredictable and one pet that needs extra attention can set everyone back.
